About Me

 Hi. I'm Joe. I'm a 23 year old PhD student from the West Midlands currently living in Newcastle with my girlfriend. I watch a lot of basketball and do a lot of data science in my research. I plan to to use this blog to combine these two things. I'm hoping to look at the numbers behind the game. I'll use complex statistics and deep learning to look at how analytics can improve scouting, team composition, game tactics and maybe even settle the GOAT debate (it's clearly Paul Pierce). I will include some Python code where necessary but I will try to make each topic as approachable as possible. I am a hardened Celtics fan but numbers can't lie so hopefully I won't show any bias 🍀.
